About the position

Spear Education is seeking an experienced Full Stack Developer to join their dynamic team. This role involves both front-end and back-end programming, focusing on building, optimizing, and scaling applications to enhance user experience. The developer will work closely with cross-functional teams, primarily using PHP, Laravel, Vue.js, GraphQL, and REST APIs to deliver high-quality features.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Product Engineering team to design and build new features for applications.
  • Implement GraphQL and REST APIs for robust data integration and client-server communication.
  • Translate project requirements into efficient and reliable code with designers and product managers.
  • Perform regular code reviews for peers.
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance to meet targets.
  • Assist the development team with 3rd level support duties on a voluntary or rotational basis.
  • Write documentation including project architecture and technical artifacts as needed.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies, contributing innovative ideas.
  • Attend Agile ceremonies including daily standups and sprint reviews.
  • Promote creativity, collaboration, and growth in the workplace.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or 5+ years of professional experience.
  • 5+ years experience with PHP, JavaScript, or other object-oriented languages (C#, Python, Objective-C, etc.).
  • 3+ years developing user interfaces using modern web frameworks such as Vue.js, AngularJS, or React.
  • Strong database skills with MySQL, PostgreSQL, and familiarity with MongoDB or Amazon Redshift.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS/SASS, and programming frameworks like Laravel.
  • Understanding of web services technologies such as HTTP and REST.
  • Familiarity with Test Driven Development (TDD) and frameworks.
  • Exposure to Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3/CloudFront, RDS, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, or other containerization tools.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix and command line skills.
  • Understanding of UI/UX best practices and accessibility compliance.
