About The Position
Byte Systems is seeking a Principal Full Stack Java Developer to join our team in Reston, VA. This is a full-time, permanent position that requires an active TS/SCI w/ Full Scope Polygraph security clearance. The successful candidate will have strong systems, software, cloud, and Agile experience to support a complex program that provides Agile development and operations and maintenance for critical systems. The role is based in a DevOps framework and involves participating in and/or directing major deliverables of projects through all aspects of the software development lifecycle, including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding, and unit testing. In this position, you will engage in software programming initiatives to support innovation and enhancement, utilizing technologies such as Java, JavaScript, Python, SpringBoot, Hibernate, and Angular. You will be responsible for developing and directing software system validation and testing methods using tools like Junit and Katalon. Additionally, you will develop and integrate custom software solutions to leverage automated deployment technologies and prototype solutions within Commercial Cloud Solutions, utilizing Infrastructure platform services. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will coordinate closely with team members, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters to ensure User Story alignment and implementation to customer use cases. You will analyze infrastructure needs driven by developed software to meet customer mission needs and support the Agile software development lifecycle following Program SAFe practices. Familiarity with industry-leading DevOps tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, and Unix bash scripting is essential, as is the ability to document and perform systems software development, including the deployment of build artifacts across different environments using GitFlow constructs. Effective communication of key project data to team members is crucial for building team cohesion and effectiveness. You will also leverage the Atlassian tool suite, including JIRA and Confluence, to track activities and apply best practices and standard operating procedures to create innovative solutions that meet the technical needs of our customers.
