About the position

Robert Half is seeking a Full Stack Java Developer for a new opportunity with a client based in Tampa. This position is designed for a local candidate with a strong background in Java development, particularly with Spring Boot, and experience in cloud services such as Azure or AWS. The role is a full-time, direct-hire position that begins with a hybrid work model, requiring four days in the office for the initial ramp-up period, transitioning to primarily remote work with only one day in the office per week thereafter. The compensation for this role is flexible, ranging from $110,000 to $130,000, depending on the candidate's experience. The ideal candidate will have at least six years of full stack Java development experience, with a strong emphasis on creating and enhancing containerized Java Spring Boot microservices. Familiarity with noSQL databases, particularly Azure CosmosDB or MongoDB, is preferred, along with experience in DevOps practices. The candidate should also be proficient in frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or Bootstrap, and have a solid understanding of API development, including RESTful, SOAP, Webhook, or GraphQL. In this role, the developer will collaborate with various stakeholders to identify technical and functional needs, ensuring an integrated end-to-end design and delivery of applications. Responsibilities will include writing and reviewing system specifications, participating in system testing and validation procedures, and providing technical advice to solve programming problems. The developer will also be responsible for documenting test activities and ensuring proper analysis of problems to prevent rework and schedule slippage.

Responsibilities

  • Create and enhance containerized Java Spring Boot microservices running on Azure Kubernetes Service
  • Use Azure DevOps practices and tools to increase the organization's ability to deliver applications and services at high velocity
  • Work with various stakeholders to identify technical and functional needs and ensure integrated end-to-end design and delivery
  • Write and/or review system specifications, including output requirements and flow charts
  • Participate in system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation
  • Provide technical advice and assist in solving programming problems
  • Review test results, document test activities, and record remediation actions
  • Ensure proper analysis of problems and programming approaches to prevent rework and schedule slippage

Requirements

  • 6+ years of Java development experience producing business critical applications, preferably within the Property & Casualty (P& C) Insurance industry
  • 4+ years of backend microservice development experience using Java and Spring Frameworks
  • Experience building, deploying and supporting containerized applications
  • Experience with NoSQL datastores such as Azure CosmosDB or MongoDB in addition to relational databases such as MS SQL
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frontend frameworks such as React, Angular or Bootstrap
  • Proficient with CI/CD practices and Production deployment leveraging GIT and Azure DevOps pipelines and repositories
  • Experience designing, building, and consuming APIs with various architectures such as RESTful, SOAP, Webhook, or GraphQL
  • Experience with multiple object-oriented languages well versed with design standards & frameworks
  • Experience implementing authentication and authorization to protect APIs
  • Experience with build tools like Maven or Gradle
  • Experience with automated unit test (i.e. Junit, Mockito, MockMVC) and test-driven development
  • Experience developing API documentation from YAML or JSON with tools such as Swagger
  • Well versed with IntelliJ and Visual Studio
