About the position

Resource Innovations is seeking a Full Stack Python Developer to join their team, focusing on energy transformation and efficiency. The role involves collaborating with team members to design and implement new features and applications, writing secure and efficient Python code within a Django framework, and ensuring data security and privacy. The developer will also document code and features for both developers and users, while making recommendations for process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members to scope out and design new features and applications for utility energy efficiency programs.
  • Write Python code within a Django web framework securely and efficiently.
  • Work with git, GitHub, AWS, Heroku, and other components of the ecosystem efficiently.
  • Ensure data security/privacy and protocols are established and followed based on client and company requirements.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to processes and technologies.
  • Document code and features in the library system for developers and program delivery staff users.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience writing code.
  • Significant comfort level with Python, intermediate level or above, including use of all basic data types and operations.
  • Ability to work independently once direction is set and to ask questions to avoid being stuck for extended periods.
  • Ability to work quickly, both in grasping concepts and in writing and testing code.
  • Ability to work in small, focused bursts on disparate tasks routinely.
  • Git or other version control experience.
  • Django web framework experience.
  • Experience building and deploying APIs.
  • Successful completion of in-person testing for proficiency in Python and/or Django.

Nice-to-haves

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science.
  • Experience with Heroku, AWS, Jira, and GitHub.
  • Experience working with engineering data, calculations, time series, plotly JS visualizations.
  • Experience with New Relic or similar tool for monitoring application performance.
  • Experience working with data scientists and machine learning applications.
