About the position

The Full-Stack Software Engineer will be part of the Intelligent Support Engineering team at OpenAI, focusing on leveraging AI technologies to build and scale solutions that assist with or automate work across the User Operations organization. The role emphasizes the development of production-ready platform architecture and the integration of new technologies to create delightful user interactions and automations. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to understand problems and implement effective solutions, aiming for reliable long-term impact through rapid prototyping and scaling of AI-based implementations.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end development lifecycle for new platform capabilities and integrations with other systems
• Collaborate closely with engineers, data scientists, information systems architects, and internal customers to understand their problems and implement effective solutions
• Work with product and research teams to share relevant feedback and iterate on applying their latest models

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional engineering experience in relevant roles at tech and product-driven companies
• Proficiency with JavaScript, React, and other web technologies
• Proficiency with a backend language (Python)
• Some experience with relational databases like Postgres/MySQL
• Proven ability to thrive in fast-growing, product-driven companies by effectively navigating loosely defined tasks and managing competing priorities or deadlines

Nice-to-haves

• Former founder, or early engineer at a startup who has built a product from scratch is a plus
• Interest in AI/ML (direct experience not required)
