About the position

The Full Stack Web Developer at Flipcost.com is responsible for managing the backend infrastructure of the company's Shopify store, focusing on backend development, server management, and integration of third-party applications. This role requires a strong proficiency in the LAMP stack, backend scripting, and DevOps practices to ensure system scalability and efficiency. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize deployment processes and maintain a high-performance backend system.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the backend infrastructure for the Shopify store using LAMP stack development.
  • Write and implement scripts to fetch and import data from vendors into Shopify's backend.
  • Ensure seamless integration of backend systems, focusing on security, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Use tools like Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes to automate CI/CD pipelines and streamline server management.
  • Configure, manage, and debug Linux-based servers through command lines, ensuring system performance and reliability.
  • Take over or build custom servers to optimize backend operations and support business growth.
  • Implement and maintain EDI solutions for efficient data exchange between systems.
  • Develop API integrations to connect Shopify with third-party applications.
  • Optimize MySQL databases for performance, ensuring data integrity and security.
  • Manage data flows and monitor backend health using custom scripts and automated solutions.
  • Use Git for version control, managing code repositories and documenting changes.
  • Work closely with teams across the company to align backend development with business objectives.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve backend issues, particularly those related to Shopify, EDI, and API integrations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP, especially within an e-commerce environment.
  • Proven experience in implementing and optimizing EDI and API integrations, with skills in troubleshooting and data exchange automation.
  • Proficiency in writing custom scripts to automate data fetching, importing, and syncing tasks for Shopify's backend.
  • Hands-on experience with Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, and other DevOps tools for CI/CD and server automation.
  • Advanced skills in command line scripting for server management and backend troubleshooting.
  • In-depth knowledge of Shopify's backend and experience integrating Shopify with custom or third-party systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with other e-commerce platforms like Amazon and eBay.
  • Experience with RESTful services, web development, and automation tools for server and database management.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Java, C, React, and Express is a plus.
  • Ability to work in Agile environments and familiarity with infrastructure as code principles.
