About the position

Under general direction, perform a wide variety of complex and journeyman level secretarial duties for department head or group of employees; assist in keeping department financial, personnel and operational records. Work varies, interpretive judgment is required within generally prescribed standards and procedures; has significant opportunity for discretion and independent action. Perform administrative support functions requiring independent judgment and a high level of confidentiality while using tact, discretion and diplomacy; perform reception duties to make visitors feel welcome; answer and direct telephone calls; facilitate and schedule building rentals and staffing; oversee daily admissions and other revenues; type, prepare, compile and maintain a variety of confidential and complex departmental records including personnel information, reports, correspondence, letters, memos, press releases, newsletters, promotional materials, policies, purchase orders and other documents; assist with facility care and upkeep; maintain SportsPlex website and social media pages; compose draft correspondence independently, proofread and prepare the final copy; prepare and maintain assigned departmental timesheets and payroll records; perform computer input and retrieval functions utilizing a variety of hardware and software programs; prepare and distribute appropriate meeting materials; provide administrative support services of a highly skilled and confidential nature; may fill in for another similar or less skilled employee. Perform overtime as required and perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, officials and the public.
  • Use personal computer to manage database information.
  • Properly account for materials, supplies and funds.
  • Maintain and exhibit discretion at all times when handling confidential information.
  • Prepare, organize and file records, reports and other documents.
  • Maintain and improve knowledge of office procedures, machine operations, city operations and policies.
  • Sort, file, record, input data or information.

Requirements

  • Education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school with course work in clerical, computer or business functions.
  • Four years of progressively responsible clerical work with strong computer experience desired.
  • Must obtain First Aid / CPR certification within first six months of employment.
  • Possession of a valid Nebraska driver's license.
