The Administrative Assistant at the Hancock County Engineer's Office plays a crucial role in supporting the operational and administrative functions of the office. Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality and trust with the County Engineer regarding budgetary responsibilities and payroll functions.
  • Recommend actions related to hiring, firing, and discipline of employees to the County Engineer.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, county agencies, utility companies, and contractors.
  • Schedule repairs for office space and equipment, and process payment/reimbursement requests.
  • Prepare statistical and budgetary reports, contracts, and other documents using a computer.
  • Track and log work transactions accurately using a computer or manual system.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails and mail.
  • Compose documents ensuring correct grammar, punctuation, and formatting.
  • Use specialty software for time sheet reporting and record maintenance.
  • Create and format documents according to specifications and review for completeness.
  • Compile and maintain a system for information retrieval in physical and electronic files.

Requirements

  • Experience in administrative support or a related field.
  • Proficiency in using computers and office software applications.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation and data entry.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with budgetary processes and payroll functions.
