About the position

INVO Healthcare is seeking a compassionate 1:1 aide for a specialty school program in Canonsburg, PA. The aide will assist a student in achieving their academic, behavioral, and social goals under the guidance of the classroom teacher and special education staff. This role is essential in providing individualized support to enhance the student's educational experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct 1:1 assistance to the assigned student in the classroom and other school environments.
• Help the student with academic tasks, following lesson plans and providing appropriate modifications or accommodations as directed by the teacher.
• Implement behavior management strategies as outlined in the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Behavior Support Plan (BSP).
• Assist with mobility, transitions between classes, and other physical needs as required by the student.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of the student during the school day, including during recess, lunch, and other non-classroom activities.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to provide regular updates on the student's progress and challenges.
• Maintain records of the student's progress, behavior, and any incidents as directed by the school's protocols.
• Encourage the student's participation in classroom activities and social interactions with peers to promote inclusion.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience working with children, especially those with special needs, is preferred.
• Patience, compassion, and the ability to adapt to the student's changing needs are essential.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff are necessary.

Nice-to-haves

• AA or BA preferred.
• Prior experience as a paraprofessional or 1:1 aide is preferred.
• Knowledge of behavior management techniques is preferred.
• Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) is preferred.
