About the position

Valley Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled Acute Care/Trauma Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Trauma Surgery Department at Winchester Medical Center, located in the picturesque Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work alongside a team of five experienced Trauma Surgeons and five Advanced Practice Providers, all committed to delivering exceptional care to our community. Winchester Medical Center serves as the central campus of a six-hospital system and is proud to host a Level-II Trauma center. The center features state-of-the-art operating rooms, a 48-bed Intensive Care Unit, and a 60-bed Emergency Department that serves approximately 68,000 patients annually. As an Acute Care/Trauma APP, you will play a vital role in managing trauma patients, providing critical care, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care to trauma patients in collaboration with trauma surgeons and other healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, develop treatment plans, and implement interventions for patients in the trauma surgery department.
  • Participate in trauma resuscitation and management of critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Educate patients and their families about trauma care, recovery processes, and preventive measures.
  • Document patient care activities accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of clinical protocols and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in an acute care or trauma setting.
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of Virginia.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team and with patients.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a Level-II Trauma center or similar high-acuity environment.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems and documentation processes.
  • Additional certifications in trauma care or critical care medicine.
