About the position

The Assistant Store Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the store's daily operations and management. This position involves supervising staff, ensuring store performance, managing schedules, and developing action plans to enhance operational efficiency. The Assistant Store Manager is also responsible for training team members and maintaining a positive work environment that aligns with the company's core values.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results
  • Establishes and communicates job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports
  • Identifies training and development opportunities for direct reports
  • Communicates and models the company's core values to foster teamwork
  • Monitors the competitive environment and informs the direct leader of necessary adjustments
  • Provides product feedback and recommendations to the direct leader
  • Participates in the interviewing process for store personnel
  • Communicates weekly information and major team milestones
  • Ensures adherence to inventory procedures and cash control policies
  • Resolves operational customer concerns in the absence of the direct leader
  • Identifies and rectifies hazards, ensuring proper ergonomics
  • Maintains store cleanliness standards and proper signage
  • Assists with maintaining proper stock levels through product ordering
  • Merchandises products to maximize sales
  • Ensures quality and freshness of products and accuracy of signage
  • Assists with achieving payroll and total loss budget
  • Supervises day-to-day operations of the team
  • Ensures direct reports complete responsibilities effectively
  • Complies with company policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service
  • Ability to develop rapport and open communication with direct reports
  • Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures
  • Ability to establish goals and guide employee performance
  • Ability to evaluate and drive performance of self and others
  • Ability to understand management principles regarding budgeting and expenses
  • Ability to operate a cash register efficiently
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and perform cleaning duties
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to stay organized and multi-task effectively
  • Meets state and local requirements for handling alcoholic beverages

Nice-to-haves

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment
  • Prior management experience preferred

Benefits

  • Starting wage of $24.00 per hour
  • Wage increase to $25.00 per hour in Year 2
  • Full-time position with an average of 38 hours per week
