About the position

The Assistant Store Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the store's management by overseeing daily operations, enhancing store performance, and developing team members. This position involves implementing operational plans, managing schedules, and ensuring adherence to company policies while fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results.
  • Establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports.
  • Identify training and development opportunities for direct reports.
  • Understand and communicate the company's strategy and core values to promote teamwork.
  • Monitor the competitive environment and inform the direct leader of necessary adjustments.
  • Provide product feedback and recommendations to the direct leader.
  • Participate in the interviewing process for store personnel.
  • Communicate weekly information, milestones, developments, and concerns to the team.
  • Ensure adherence to inventory procedures, product handling guidelines, and cash control policies.
  • Resolve operational customer concerns in the absence of the direct leader.
  • Identify and rectify hazards, ensuring proper ergonomics and equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain store cleanliness standards and proper signage.
  • Assist with maintaining proper stock levels through product ordering.
  • Merchandise products to maximize sales and ensure quality and freshness.
  • Assist in achieving store payroll and total loss budget, inventory counts, and training new employees.
  • Supervise day-to-day operations and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Ensure direct reports complete responsibilities timely and effectively.
  • Comply with company policies and uphold document security and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service.
  • Ability to develop rapport and open communication with direct reports.
  • Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish goals and guide employee performance.
  • Ability to evaluate and drive performance of self and others.

  • Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and perform general cleaning duties.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to stay organized and multi-task efficiently.

Nice-to-haves

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment preferred.
  • Prior management experience preferred.

Benefits

  • Starting wage of $27.00 per hour with a wage increase to $28.00 in Year 2.
  • Full-time position with an average of 38 hours per week.
