About the position

As an Assistant Store Manager at ALDI, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of the store, ensuring that all activities align with the company's strategic goals. In this role, you will assist the direct leader in developing and implementing action plans aimed at improving operating results. Monitoring the competitive environment within the community will be essential, as you will need to inform your direct leader of any necessary adjustments to maintain the company's competitive position. Additionally, you will provide product feedback and participate in the interviewing process for new store personnel. Your responsibilities will also include ensuring that store personnel adhere to inventory procedures, product handling guidelines, and cash control policies to minimize losses. You will be expected to resolve operational customer concerns in the absence of your direct leader and maintain high standards of store cleanliness and proper signage. Assisting with stock levels through appropriate product ordering and merchandising products to maximize sales will also be part of your daily tasks. Overall, your role will be pivotal in achieving the store's payroll and total loss budget, conducting inventory counts, and training new employees, all while providing the highest level of customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results.
  • Establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports.

  • Communicate weekly information, major milestones, and concerns to the team.
  • Ensure adherence to inventory procedures, product handling guidelines, and cash control policies.

  • Identify and rectify hazards, ensuring proper ergonomics and equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain store cleanliness standards and proper signage.
  • Assist with maintaining proper stock levels through product ordering.
  • Merchandise products neatly to maximize sales.
  • Ensure quality and freshness of products and accuracy of signage.
  • Assist with achieving payroll and total loss budget, inventory counts, and training new employees.
  • Supervise day-to-day operations of the team and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Ensure direct reports complete assigned responsibilities effectively.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures while upholding security and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment preferred.
  • Prior management experience preferred.

Benefits

  • Starting wage of $25.00 per hour with a wage increase to $26.00 in Year 2.
  • Full-time position with an average of 38 hours per week.
