About the position

The Assistant Store Manager at GameStop plays a crucial role in supporting the Store Manager in all aspects of store operations. This position focuses on delivering exceptional guest service, promoting a sales culture, and ensuring a clean and organized shopping environment. The Assistant Store Manager supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager, contributing to the overall success of the store by enhancing guest experiences and driving sales.

Responsibilities

  • Provide best-in-class guest service by greeting guests and addressing their questions and concerns promptly.
  • Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements and current sales initiatives.
  • Process guest purchases and returns accurately using the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
  • Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone, escalating issues to the Store Manager when necessary.
  • Promote GameStop's unique guest benefits, such as the new title reservations program and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
  • Assist the Store Manager in setting guest service expectations and training store associates.
  • Observe associate performance and provide feedback to the Store Manager regarding performance issues.
  • Ensure store associates complete all onboarding and compliance training before shifts.
  • Schedule store associates and supervise staffing levels to optimize guest service.
  • Approve payroll and manage time-off requests for store associates.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store, ensuring compliance with company guidelines.
  • Fulfill and ship Omni-Channel orders daily.
  • Implement effective inventory control and loss prevention practices.
  • Support the store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals, completing administrative duties as required.
  • Conduct store inventory counts and manage stock levels effectively.
  • Balance and reconcile daily business transactions in the POS system.
  • Verify shipments for discrepancies and conduct merchandise counts as needed.
  • Process defectives and recalls accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain awareness of safety and address hazardous situations immediately.
  • Assist in maintaining organized store records and manuals.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.

Requirements

  • Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking and writing skills preferred.
