About the position

The Athletic Director at Lorain County Community College (LCCC) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the athletic program, ensuring compliance with regulations, and promoting student academic success. This role involves managing day-to-day operations, supervising coaches, scheduling athletic contests, and serving as a liaison with the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). The Athletic Director will also foster a culture of sportsmanship and excellence while ensuring compliance with Title IX regulations and submitting the annual Title IX report.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the athletic program including supervising coaches and scheduling athletic contests.
  • Serve as the liaison with the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
  • Promote student academic success through various programs.
  • Ensure compliance with NJCAA Region XII and Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) rules and regulations.
  • Determine eligibility for LCCC student-athletes and submit eligibility rosters to NJCAA on a timely basis.
  • Assist the HPER Program Coordinator in hiring and supervising all coaches.
  • Monitor the recruitment of prospective student-athletes by the coaching staff.
  • Manage the athletic budget and team accounts.
  • Provide leadership in planning, developing, and implementing programs to promote student-athlete academic success, including study tables and tutoring sessions.
  • Develop an athletic calendar of events, including scheduling athletic events, required officials, game workers, transportation drivers, and athletic trainers.
  • Oversee Title IX compliance to ensure accuracy with regulations and guidelines.
  • Assume other duties delegated by the Dean of Health & Wellness Sciences and the HPER Program Coordinator.
  • Perform annual objectives mutually determined with the Dean of Health & Wellness Sciences and the HPER Program Coordinator.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in an athletic administration role.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent understanding of the rules and knowledge of LCCC sports.
  • Ability to organize work in a team environment and motivate college varsity and club programs.
  • Firm commitment to a student-centered culture and the academic success of students.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of experience in an Athletic Director role.
  • Previous experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Collegiate athletic administrative experience.
  • Participation in collegiate athletics.
  • Master's degree.
