About the position

As a Full Time Cashier Closing at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting customers at the self-checkout registers, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a clean and safe store environment. You will be expected to monitor multiple self-checkout registers, proactively engage with customers, and recommend products and services that meet their needs. Your ability to move throughout the checkout area while standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting will be essential in ensuring accurate transaction completion. In addition to customer interaction, you will be responsible for using cash registers and mobile checkout units to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds according to company guidelines. You will also assist with stocking register supplies, filling coolers and shelves, and inspecting returned merchandise. Your role will require you to maintain a safe and secure work environment by detecting signs of theft and adhering to safety requirements relevant to your duties. You will also support the administrative office by managing reports, processing customer credit card payments, and resolving credit disputes. This position may require you to work in various checkout areas of the store, including Assisted Self-Checkout, Lumber, Mainline, Outside Lawn & Garden, or Returns. You will be held accountable for other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the store operations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
• Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
• Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using cash registers and mobile checkout units.
• Ensure merchandise is accurately scanned and assist with the customer pick-up experience.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas according to housekeeping standards.
• Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate security risks to management.
• Prepare the register area by confirming functionality and stocking supplies.
• Inspect returned merchandise for damages and place them in appropriate areas.
• Respond to EAS alerts and assist with opening additional registers during high customer volume.

Requirements

• Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
• Less than 1 year of experience standing and navigating throughout checkout areas for extended periods in a retail environment.
• Less than 1 year of experience actively moving throughout a fast-paced self-checkout area.

Nice-to-haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
