About the position

The position involves assisting customers at self-checkout registers, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring a clean and safe store environment. The role requires proactive engagement with customers, monitoring their transactions, and maintaining the functionality of checkout areas. Employees will also handle various administrative tasks related to customer orders and payments.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
• Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
• Ensure accurate completion of transactions by moving throughout the checkout area and assisting customers as needed.
• Thank customers for their business and invite them back to shop at Lowe's.
• Identify and understand customer needs at checkout through active engagement.
• Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using cash registers and mobile checkout units according to company guidelines.
• Remove security tags, verify product information, and bag merchandise for customers.
• Respond to EAS alerts and manage incoming phone calls appropriately.
• Open additional registers to accommodate high customer volume when necessary.
• Ensure merchandise is accurately scanned and prepare the register area throughout the day.
• Inspect returned merchandise for damages and place it in appropriate areas.
• Assist with the Pick Up In Store customer experience by staging merchandise.
• Conduct daily safety reviews and maintain a safe work environment.
• Comply with housekeeping standards to maintain cleanliness and organization of the store.
• Create, manage, and update reports related to administrative tasks as needed.

Requirements

• Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
• Less than 1 year of experience standing and navigating throughout checkout areas in a retail environment.
• Less than 1 year of experience actively moving throughout a fast-paced self-checkout area.

Nice-to-haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Less than 1 year of experience in a similar fast-paced retail environment.
