About the position

The Cashier position at Lowe's involves providing excellent customer service at the checkout area, assisting customers with their purchases, and ensuring a smooth transaction process. The role requires active engagement with customers, monitoring self-checkout registers, and maintaining a clean and safe store environment. Cashiers are responsible for processing sales transactions, handling returns, and supporting various checkout areas within the store.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
• Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
• Ensure accurate completion of transactions by moving throughout the checkout area and assisting customers as needed.
• Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using cash registers and mobile checkout units according to company guidelines.
• Remove security tags, verify product information, and bag merchandise for customers.
• Respond to EAS alerts and manage incoming phone calls appropriately.
• Open additional registers during high customer volume periods to ensure efficient service.
• Ensure merchandise is accurately scanned and prepare the register area throughout the day.
• Inspect returned merchandise for damages and place it in the appropriate areas.
• Assist with the Pick Up In Store customer experience by staging merchandise and entering customer orders accurately.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas according to housekeeping standards.
• Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate security risks to management.
• Adhere to safety requirements relevant to job duties and maintain a safe work environment.

Requirements

• Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
• Less than 1 year of experience standing and navigating throughout checkout areas for extended periods in a retail environment.
• Less than 1 year of experience actively moving throughout a fast-paced self-checkout area.

Nice-to-haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Less than 1 year of experience in a retail environment, particularly in a self-checkout area.
