About the position

The Cashier position at Lowe's involves providing excellent customer service at the checkout area, assisting customers with self-checkout, processing transactions, and maintaining a clean and safe store environment. The role requires proactive engagement with customers, ensuring accurate scanning of merchandise, and supporting various checkout functions to enhance the customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
• Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
• Ensure accurate completion of transactions by moving throughout the checkout area.
• Thank customers for their business and invite them back to shop at Lowe's.
• Identify and understand customer needs at checkout through active engagement.
• Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using cash registers and mobile checkout units.
• Remove security tags, verify product information, and bag merchandise for customers.
• Respond to EAS alerts and manage incoming phone calls appropriately.
• Open additional registers to accommodate high customer volume when necessary.
• Ensure merchandise is accurately scanned and register area is prepared throughout the day.
• Inspect returned merchandise for damages and place it in appropriate areas.
• Assist with the Pick Up In Store customer experience by staging merchandise.
• Conduct daily safety reviews and maintain a safe work environment.
• Comply with housekeeping standards to maintain cleanliness and organization of the store.

Requirements

• Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
• Less than 1 year of experience standing and navigating throughout checkout areas in a retail environment.
• Less than 1 year of experience actively moving in a fast-paced self-checkout area.

Nice-to-haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Less than 1 year of experience in a fast-paced self-checkout area.
