About the position

The Cashier position at Lowe's involves providing excellent customer service at the checkout area, assisting customers with transactions, and ensuring a smooth and efficient checkout experience. The role requires active engagement with customers, monitoring self-checkout registers, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
• Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
• Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using cash registers and mobile checkout units.
• Remove security tags, verify product information, and bag merchandise for customers.
• Respond to EAS alerts and manage incoming phone calls appropriately.
• Ensure merchandise is accurately scanned and prepare the register area throughout the day.
• Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate security risks to management.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas according to housekeeping standards.
• Conduct daily safety reviews and maintain a safe work environment.
• Operate store equipment as needed, including computers and surveillance systems.

Requirements

• Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
• Less than 1 year of experience standing and navigating throughout checkout areas in a retail environment.
• Less than 1 year of experience in a fast-paced self-checkout area.

Nice-to-haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in customer service or retail environments.
