About the position

The Cashier position at Lowe's involves providing excellent customer service at the checkout area, assisting customers with their purchases, and ensuring a smooth transaction process. The role requires active engagement with customers, monitoring self-checkout registers, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Cashiers are responsible for processing sales transactions, handling returns, and supporting the overall customer experience in a fast-paced retail setting.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
• Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
• Ensure accurate completion of transactions by moving throughout the checkout area and assisting customers as needed.
• Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using cash registers and mobile checkout units according to company guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas, complying with housekeeping standards.
• Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate security risks to management.
• Assist with customer orders and ensure merchandise is accurately scanned and stocked.

Requirements

• Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information processing.
• Less than 1 year of experience standing and navigating throughout checkout areas in a retail environment.
• Less than 1 year of experience in a fast-paced self-checkout area, actively moving and monitoring customer transactions.

Nice-to-haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a retail environment, particularly in a checkout or customer service role.
