About the position

As a Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in providing excellent customer service and ensuring a smooth checkout experience for our customers. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting customers at the self-checkout registers, actively engaging with them to understand their needs, and recommending appropriate products and services. You will be expected to monitor multiple self-checkout stations simultaneously, ensuring that customers receive the assistance they need to complete their transactions efficiently. Your role will also involve greeting customers, thanking them for their business, and inviting them back to shop at Lowe's, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty. In addition to customer service, you will be responsible for maintaining the checkout area, ensuring that all registers and scanners are functional, and stocking necessary supplies. You will handle sales transactions, returns, and refunds using the cash register and assisted self-checkout units, while also ensuring that merchandise is accurately scanned and bagged for customers. Your attention to detail will be essential in verifying product information, removing security tags, and responding to EAS alerts. You will also assist with the Pick Up In Store experience by staging merchandise and processing customer orders accurately. Safety and cleanliness are paramount in this role. You will be expected to detect signs of theft or security risks and communicate them to management. Maintaining a clean and organized work environment is essential, and you will adhere to all safety requirements relevant to your duties. This may include conducting daily safety reviews and ensuring that aisles are clear and safe for customers and staff alike. Overall, your role as a Cashier at Lowe's will require you to be proactive, customer-focused, and detail-oriented, ensuring that every customer leaves the store satisfied with their shopping experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
• Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
• Ensure accurate completion of transactions by moving throughout the checkout area and assisting customers as needed.
• Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using cash registers and self-checkout units according to company guidelines.
• Remove security tags, verify product information, and bag merchandise for customers.
• Respond to EAS alerts and call for assistance to open additional registers during high customer volume.
• Ensure merchandise is accurately scanned and prepare the register area throughout the day.
• Inspect returned merchandise for damages and place it in the appropriate areas.
• Assist with the Pick Up In Store customer experience by picking and staging merchandise.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas according to housekeeping standards.

Requirements

• Less than 1 year of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
• Less than 1 year of experience standing and navigating throughout the checkout areas for extended periods in a retail store environment.
• Less than 1 year of experience actively moving throughout a fast-paced self-checkout area.

Nice-to-haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Less than 1 year of experience in a retail environment.
