About the position

As a Full Time CDL Delivery Driver at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our customers receive their orders in a timely and efficient manner. This position requires a commitment to providing exceptional customer service while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. You will be responsible for planning delivery activities, loading and unloading merchandise, and ensuring that all deliveries are executed according to schedule. Your role will also involve direct interaction with customers, assisting them with their needs, and providing information about products and services offered by Lowe's. In addition to your delivery responsibilities, you will be expected to maintain the cleanliness and safety of the delivery vehicle and equipment. This includes conducting daily vehicle inspections, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and reporting any maintenance needs. You will also be responsible for verifying the condition of products before delivery and ensuring that all loads are secure and within legal limits. Your ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members will be essential in this role, as you will need to coordinate delivery schedules and address any customer inquiries or concerns. This position requires a Class A or B CDL license, depending on the type of vehicle you will be operating. You will also need to comply with all DOT regulations and maintain a valid medical certificate. Experience in driving commercial vehicles and providing customer service is preferred, as is familiarity with operating equipment such as forklifts. Responsibilities

  • Provides SMART customer service at all times through the daily execution of Lowe's customer service policies, procedures and programs.
  • Seeks out customers to understand their needs and assists in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise.
  • Listens to and responds knowledgeably and promptly to customer and employee questions by walking them through projects when necessary.
  • Demonstrates sincere appreciation to customers.
  • Communicates information to customers regarding all stock, special order merchandise, feature benefits, application, and warranty information related to Lowe's programs.
  • Contacts customers regarding delivery or coordinates with the truck driver to call the customer.
  • Plans delivery activities, prints loading tickets, and delivers merchandise according to schedule to ensure on-time delivery of orders.
  • Pulls merchandise, builds and bands delivery loads, and loads trucks according to delivery order.
  • Inspects condition of products before loading for delivery or assisting customer with loading.
  • Ensures that the loads are safe, secure, and within Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Updates delivery and route status on system for tracking purposes.
  • Unloads, installs, and tests appliances upon delivery.
  • Verifies daily vehicle inspections and reports and ensures cleanliness, maintenance, and repairs for delivery vehicles and other equipment.
  • Completes Department of Transportation (DOT) reporting to maintain DOT certification and CDL compliance.
  • Detects common signs of shoplifting, theft, and other security risks, and promptly communicates them to management and/or Asset Protection.
  • Ensures compliance with housekeeping standards and programs to maintain cleanliness and organization of store and working areas.
  • Maintains a safe and secure work environment, which may include conducting daily safety reviews, noting hazards, keeping aisles clear, and securing doors and gates.
  • Adheres to all safety requirements relevant to one's regular job duties.
  • Operates store equipment as needed depending on one specific role and department.

Requirements

  • Class A CDL License or Class B CDL License with air brake endorsement required to operate commercial vehicles.
  • Valid medical certificate or ability to obtain one upon employment.
  • Ability to pass MVR screen in accordance with company requirements.
  • Ability to obtain sales related licensure or registration as may be required by law.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction).
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Ability to comply with DOT and CDL regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1 Year Experience driving a semitruck/trailer or certification from a driving school.
  • 6 Months Experience performing in-home delivery or retail customer service.
  • 3 Months Experience operating a forklift or Moffett onloading/offloading a vehicle.
