About the position

As a Full-Time CDL Delivery Driver at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service while ensuring the timely and safe delivery of merchandise. Your primary responsibility will be to execute Lowe's customer service policies and procedures, ensuring that every customer interaction is positive and helpful. You will actively seek out customers to understand their needs, assisting them in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise. Your ability to listen and respond knowledgeably to customer inquiries will be essential, as you guide them through their projects and demonstrate sincere appreciation for their business. In addition to customer service, you will be responsible for planning delivery activities, printing loading tickets, and ensuring that merchandise is delivered according to schedule. This includes pulling merchandise, building and banding delivery loads, and loading trucks in compliance with payload regulations. You will inspect the condition of products before loading and verify that the items match the invoice, ensuring accuracy in delivery. Safety and compliance are paramount in this role. You will ensure that all loads are secure and adhere to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Daily vehicle inspections will be part of your routine, and you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of delivery vehicles. You will also be tasked with detecting signs of theft and security risks, communicating any concerns to management promptly. Your commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work environment will contribute to the overall safety and efficiency of the store. This position requires a Class A or B CDL license, depending on the type of vehicle you will be operating, along with a valid medical certificate. You will need to comply with DOT and CDL regulations and pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) screen. The role also requires basic arithmetic skills and the ability to read and write effectively. Experience in driving a semi-truck or performing in-home delivery is preferred, along with forklift operation experience. Responsibilities

  • Provides SMART customer service at all times through the daily execution of Lowe's customer service policies, procedures and programs
  • Seeks out customers to understand his/her needs and assists in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise
  • Listens to and responds knowledgeably and promptly to customer and employee questions by walking them through projects when necessary
  • Demonstrates sincere appreciation to customers
  • Communicates information to customers regarding all stock, special order merchandise, feature benefits, application, and warranty information related to Lowe's programs
  • Contacts customers regarding delivery or coordinates with the truck driver to call the customer
  • Plans delivery activities, prints loading tickets, and delivers merchandise according to schedule to ensure on-time delivery of orders
  • Pulls merchandise, builds and bands delivery loads, and loads trucks (within payload) according to delivery order
  • Inspects condition of products (e.g., appliances) before loading for delivery or assisting customer with loading
  • Matches items on invoice with quantities loaded by verifying descriptions, items, and model numbers
  • Ensures that the loads are safe, secure, and within Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
  • Updates delivery and route status (e.g., on-site, completed) on system (e.g., iPhone) for tracking purposes
  • Unloads, installs, and tests appliances upon delivery
  • Verifies daily vehicle inspections and reports and ensures cleanliness, maintenance, and repairs for delivery vehicles and other equipment (e.g., lift gates)
  • Completes Department of Transportation (DOT) reporting to maintain DOT certification and CDL compliance
  • Detects common signs of shoplifting, theft, and other security risks, and promptly communicates them to management and/or Asset Protection
  • Ensures compliance with housekeeping standards and programs (e.g., Zone Recovery) to maintain cleanliness and organization of store and working areas
  • Maintains a safe and secure work environment, which may include conducting daily safety reviews, noting hazards, keeping aisles clear, and securing doors and gates
  • Adheres to all safety requirements relevant to one's regular job duties: top stock safety, reinstalling safety cables, use of aisle blockers, a tether line on power equipment, spotters, and safety devices
  • Operates store equipment as needed depending on one specific role and department (e.g., Zebra phone, telephone, paging system, copiers, fax machines, computers, CCTV surveillance system, key cutter, panel saw, paint mixer, flooring cutters, compacter baler)
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Class A CDL License - In locations with multi-unit CMV (tractor trailer & flatbed) a class A license is required to operate.
  • Class B CDL License - In locations with single-unit CMV (tandem flatbed) a class A or B license with air break endorsement is required to operate.
  • Valid medical certificate or ability to obtain one upon employment.
  • Ability to pass MVR screen in accordance with company requirements.
  • Ability to obtain sales related licensure or registration as may be required by law.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction).
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Ability to comply with DOT and CDL regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1 Year Experience driving a semi-truck/trailer or certification from a driving school
  • 6 Months Experience performing in-home delivery or retail customer service
  • 3 Months Experience operating a forklift or Moffett onloading/offloading a vehicle
