About the position

As a Full Time CDL Delivery Driver at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our customers receive their orders in a timely and efficient manner. Your primary responsibility will be to provide exceptional customer service while executing delivery operations. You will be expected to seek out customers, understand their needs, and assist them in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise. This role requires you to listen to and respond knowledgeably to customer inquiries, guiding them through their projects when necessary. You will also be responsible for communicating important information regarding stock, special orders, and warranty details related to Lowe's programs. In addition to customer service, you will plan delivery activities, print loading tickets, and ensure that merchandise is delivered according to schedule. This includes pulling merchandise, building and banding delivery loads, and loading trucks while adhering to payload limits. You will inspect the condition of products before loading and verify that the items match the invoice in terms of descriptions, quantities, and model numbers. Safety is paramount in this role; you will ensure that loads are secure and compliant with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and you will conduct daily vehicle inspections to maintain cleanliness and functionality of delivery vehicles. You will also be responsible for unloading, installing, and testing appliances upon delivery, as well as maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This includes adhering to safety requirements and conducting daily safety reviews to identify and mitigate hazards. You will operate various store equipment as needed and may be assigned additional duties as required. This position is essential in maintaining Lowe's commitment to customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide SMART customer service at all times through the execution of Lowe's customer service policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Seek out customers to understand their needs and assist in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise.
  • Listen to and respond knowledgeably and promptly to customer and employee questions, guiding them through projects when necessary.
  • Communicate information to customers regarding stock, special order merchandise, feature benefits, application, and warranty information related to Lowe's programs.
  • Plan delivery activities, print loading tickets, and deliver merchandise according to schedule to ensure on-time delivery of orders.
  • Pull merchandise, build and band delivery loads, and load trucks according to delivery order.
  • Inspect condition of products before loading for delivery or assisting customers with loading.
  • Match items on invoice with quantities loaded by verifying descriptions, items, and model numbers.
  • Ensure that loads are safe, secure, and within Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Update delivery and route status on the system for tracking purposes.
  • Unload, install, and test appliances upon delivery.
  • Verify daily vehicle inspections and ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and repairs for delivery vehicles and other equipment.
  • Complete Department of Transportation (DOT) reporting to maintain DOT certification and CDL compliance.
  • Detect common signs of shoplifting, theft, and other security risks, and communicate them to management and/or Asset Protection.
  • Ensure compliance with housekeeping standards and programs to maintain cleanliness and organization of store and working areas.
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment, conducting daily safety reviews and noting hazards.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements relevant to job duties and operate store equipment as needed.

Requirements

  • Class A CDL License required for multi-unit CMV (tractor trailer & flatbed) or Class B CDL License for single-unit CMV (tandem flatbed) with air brake endorsement.
  • Valid medical certificate or ability to obtain one upon employment.
  • Ability to pass MVR screen in accordance with company requirements.
  • Ability to obtain sales-related licensure or registration as required by law.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction).
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Ability to comply with DOT and CDL regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1 Year Experience driving a semi-truck/trailer or certification from a driving school.
  • 6 Months Experience performing in-home delivery or retail customer service.
  • 3 Months Experience operating a forklift or Moffett onloading/offloading a vehicle.
