About the position

As a Full Time CDL Delivery Driver at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our customers receive their orders in a timely and efficient manner. This position requires a commitment to providing exceptional customer service while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. You will be responsible for planning delivery activities, loading and unloading merchandise, and ensuring that all deliveries are executed according to schedule. Your role will also involve direct interaction with customers, assisting them with their needs, and providing information about products and services offered by Lowe's. In this position, you will be expected to demonstrate a strong understanding of Lowe's customer service policies and procedures. You will actively seek out customer interactions, listen to their needs, and assist them in locating and loading merchandise. Your ability to communicate effectively and provide knowledgeable responses to customer inquiries will be essential in creating a positive shopping experience. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the delivery vehicle and ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Your daily tasks will include inspecting the condition of products before loading, verifying invoices against loaded items, and conducting daily vehicle inspections. You will also be responsible for updating delivery and route statuses using mobile technology, ensuring that all loads are secure and within DOT regulations. This position requires a proactive approach to safety, including conducting daily safety reviews and maintaining a secure work environment. You will also be accountable for other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the delivery team and Lowe's operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides SMART customer service at all times through the daily execution of Lowe's customer service policies, procedures and programs
  • Seeks out customers to understand their needs and assists in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise
  • Listens to and responds knowledgeably and promptly to customer and employee questions by walking them through projects when necessary
  • Demonstrates sincere appreciation to customers
  • Communicates information to customers regarding all stock, special order merchandise, feature benefits, application, and warranty information related to Lowe's programs
  • Contacts customers regarding delivery or coordinates with the truck driver to call the customer
  • Plans delivery activities, prints loading tickets, and delivers merchandise according to schedule to ensure on-time delivery of orders
  • Pulls merchandise, builds and bands delivery loads, and loads trucks according to delivery order
  • Inspects condition of products before loading for delivery or assisting customer with loading
  • Matches items on invoice with quantities loaded by verifying descriptions, items, and model numbers
  • Ensures that the loads are safe, secure, and within Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
  • Updates delivery and route status on system for tracking purposes
  • Unloads, installs, and tests appliances upon delivery
  • Verifies daily vehicle inspections and reports and ensures cleanliness, maintenance, and repairs for delivery vehicles and other equipment
  • Completes Department of Transportation (DOT) reporting to maintain DOT certification and CDL compliance
  • Detects common signs of shoplifting, theft, and other security risks, and promptly communicates them to management and/or Asset Protection
  • Ensures compliance with housekeeping standards and programs to maintain cleanliness and organization of store and working areas
  • Maintains a safe and secure work environment, which may include conducting daily safety reviews, noting hazards, keeping aisles clear, and securing doors and gates
  • Adheres to all safety requirements relevant to one's regular job duties
  • Operates store equipment as needed depending on one specific role and department

Requirements

  • Class A CDL License required for multiunit CMV (tractor trailer & flatbed) or Class B CDL License required for singleunit CMV (tandem flatbed) with air brake endorsement
  • Valid medical certificate or ability to obtain one upon employment
  • Ability to pass MVR screen in accordance with company requirements
  • Ability to obtain sales related licensure or registration as may be required by law
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction)
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Ability to comply with DOT and CDL regulations

Nice-to-haves

  • 1 Year Experience driving a semitruck/trailer or certification from a driving school
  • 6 Months Experience performing in-home delivery or retail customer service
  • 3 Months Experience operating a forklift or Moffett onloading/offloading a vehicle
