About the position

The Dean of Science, Language Arts, and Mathematics at Shasta College is a key administrative role responsible for overseeing the instructional division of the college. This position involves planning, developing, and coordinating educational programs while ensuring equitable outcomes for a diverse student population. The Dean will manage faculty and staff, implement policies, and promote community relationships to enhance student success and educational quality.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, promote, coordinate, and monitor the programs and activities of the instructional division.
• Develop, evaluate, and implement policies and procedures related to the operations of the assigned division.
• Direct, supervise, and formally evaluate the work of faculty and classified staff.
• Ensure the provision of appropriate courses and instructional programs related to the assigned division.
• Determine staffing needs and make appropriate recommendations.
• Develop division class schedules and ensure the provision of necessary facilities, supplies, and equipment.
• Develop, coordinate, and administer the division budget; monitor and control expenditures.
• Participate in administrative, board, and other meetings; conduct division meetings and organize advisory committees.
• Promote cooperative relationships with community and regional agencies as appropriate.

Requirements

• Master's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent.
• One year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience related to the administrative assignment.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in community college curricular and instructional programs.
• Knowledge of budget development and implementation practices.
