About the position

The Director of Occupational Therapy at Masada will play a crucial role in leading the Occupational Therapy Department, which has seen significant growth and is poised for further expansion. This full-time, exempt position is based in Carson, CA, and reports directly to the Chief Program Officer. The Director will be responsible for maintaining existing programs while creatively seeking new areas of treatment to enhance service delivery. This leadership role is pivotal in ensuring high-quality occupational therapy services are provided to clients, while also nurturing the development of staff and students within the department. The Director will work collaboratively with agency leadership to align departmental goals with the organization's overall strategic vision, which emphasizes the importance of occupational therapy in the continuum of care offered by Masada. In addition to overseeing the operational responsibilities of the Occupational Therapy Department, the Director will supervise administrative, clinical, and support activities, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and maintaining accurate documentation. The role requires a strong focus on collaboration, as the Director will coordinate multi-disciplinary services with treatment teams and external providers, serving as a liaison with schools, community agencies, and institutions. The Director will also be responsible for developing policies and workflows for the occupational therapy staff, establishing systems to track program requirements, and participating in community outreach to enhance the visibility and impact of the department. Fiscal management is another key aspect of this role, as the Director will monitor program budgets and work towards meeting strategic budget goals. The Director will foster a supportive environment for employees and students, ensuring fair evaluations and disciplinary actions, while also creatively meeting the needs of staff and client populations through the development and implementation of new programs of care and service lines. Responsibilities

  • Define operational responsibilities for Occupational Therapy.
  • Develop staff and student potential to meet performance expectations and create a success-oriented culture.
  • Supervise administrative, clinical, and support activities within the OT program.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation and compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary services in collaboration with treatment teams and outside providers.
  • Serve as a liaison with schools, community agencies, and institutions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, contractual requirements, and ethical standards.
  • Collaborate with program directors to meet educational requirements.
  • Facilitate clear communication between staff, students, and educational institutions, ensuring consistent messaging and problem-solving.
  • Develop policies and workflows for occupational therapy staff.
  • Establish systems to track program requirements.
  • Participate in program meetings and community outreach.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with educational institutions and outside institutions.
  • Monitor program budgets and meet strategic budget goals.
  • Foster a supportive environment, build on the strengths of staff, and ensure fair evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Creatively meet the needs of the staff and client populations through the development and implementation of new programs of care and service lines.

Requirements

  • Genuine passion for Masada's mission.
  • 5 or more years of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Proven success in managing teams of OT staff.
  • Strong desire and aptitude for department building.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also being a collaborative team player who engages effectively with colleagues both within and outside of Masada.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Master's degree or above in Occupational Therapy (M.A.), (Bachelors ok if graduated prior to 2007).
  • Valid OTR certification and California Occupational Therapy license.
  • Valid California Driver's License and the ability to travel for program duties.
