About the position
As a Dock Worker at Dayton Freight, you will play a crucial role in the logistics and transportation process by efficiently loading and unloading freight. This position is full-time and requires you to work from 1:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Your primary responsibility will be to load and unload freight in a productive, safe, and claims-free manner. Although the role does not involve working inside a warehouse, it is essential to maximize space when loading freight to ensure efficiency. You will also be responsible for completing pre and post-trip inspections on all dock equipment, which is vital for maintaining safety and operational standards. Proper documentation of all freight control processes is another critical aspect of your role, as it helps maintain accurate records and accountability. In addition to your daily tasks, you will participate in Dayton Freight's training and improvement programs, which are designed to enhance your skills and knowledge in the field. Flexibility is key in this position, as you may be required to work irregular schedules, alternating shifts, and/or assignments. Adhering to the operational procedures and guidelines outlined in the Dayton Freight Driver/Dockworker Manual is essential to ensure compliance and safety in the workplace.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload freight in a productive, safe, and claims-free manner.
- Maximize space when loading freight.
- Complete pre and post-trip inspections on all dock equipment.
- Properly document all freight control processes.
- Participate in Dayton Freight's training and improvement programs.
- Be available for irregular work schedules, alternating work shifts, and/or assignments.
- Adhere to the operational procedures and guidelines contained in the Dayton Freight Driver/Dockworker Manual.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Basic math skills are required.
- Fluent in English.
- Able to pass a drug screen.
