About the position
The Exceptional Children Teacher Assistant is responsible for assisting in assessing and providing quality instruction and learning opportunities for exceptional children through various settings and instructional procedures. This role involves working closely with students identified as exceptional, ensuring their educational and physical needs are met effectively.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning/implementing instruction for students identified as exceptional.
- Assist in overseeing the distribution and intake of medication to students on continuous dosage regimens.
- Assist in daily instruction to self-contained and resource students.
- Assist with the maintenance of adaptive communication equipment and other specialized equipment related to the exceptional children's program.
- Assist in the identification of specific needs of the exceptional children's program and order appropriate materials using the allotted budget.
- Attend to daily physical needs of students as required.
- Other duties as assigned by supervising teacher.
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children with special needs preferred.
