About the position

The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), a prestigious college of art and design, business, and technology, is seeking a full-time tenure-track faculty member for the Marketing Communications department within the Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology. This position is designed for individuals with specialized expertise in creative copywriting, who are passionate about teaching and mentoring students in the dynamic field of marketing communications. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging lectures that promote active learning and encourage both creative and analytical thinking among students. They will also be expected to develop and expand the curriculum in advertising and copywriting across various mediums, audiences, and brand voices. The Marketing Communications department offers programs that prepare students for successful careers in diverse fields such as advertising, brand management, public relations, and direct marketing. The faculty member will play a crucial role in fostering a global perspective among students, integrating industry practices with academic rigor, and maintaining strong industry connections to enhance the learning experience. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the global nature of the advertising and marketing industry, and will be committed to promoting ethical and social responsibility in their teaching. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the faculty member will advise students, mentor them through internships, engage with alumni, and participate in departmental and college-wide committees. They will also support accreditation efforts and contribute to administrative activities as required. The position requires a commitment to staying current with industry trends and technology, and to incorporating innovative teaching methodologies into the curriculum. Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging lectures that promote active learning and encourage creative and analytical thinking.
  • Develop and expand the curriculum in advertising and copywriting across different mediums, audiences, and brand voices.
  • Advise students and facilitate internships.
  • Mentor students and engage with alumni.
  • Participate in department meetings and industry functions.
  • Serve on department, school, and college-wide committees.
  • Support accreditation and participate in administrative activities as required.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in communications or related field, or enrolled in a master's degree program in progress to completion.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years experience in copywriting across different mediums.
  • Proficiency in various writing styles and formats.

Nice-to-haves

  • College-level teaching or instructional experience.
  • Portfolio showcasing a range of successful copywriting campaigns.
  • Terminal degree in a field related to marketing or communications.
