About the position

The Baker School of Business and Technology at the Fashion Institute of Technology is seeking a full-time tenure track faculty member for the Marketing Communications department, specializing in creative copywriting. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in creating advertising campaigns across various media, including traditional outlets such as print, TV, and audio, as well as digital platforms like the internet and social media. The successful candidate will be adept in copywriting and copyediting within the advertising field and will stay current with industry practices and technology, understanding trends in advertising, digital marketing, and content creation. Familiarity with social platforms and content strategy is essential. The primary responsibilities of this position include delivering engaging lectures that promote active learning and encourage both creative and analytical thinking among students. The new faculty member will be expected to develop and expand the curriculum in advertising and copywriting across different mediums, audiences, and brand voices. Additional responsibilities encompass advising students, mentoring, facilitating internships, engaging with alumni, participating in department meetings, and attending industry functions. The faculty member will also serve on various committees at the department, school, and college levels, support accreditation efforts, and participate in administrative activities as required. Specific competencies sought for this position include a strong understanding of the global nature of the advertising and marketing industry, a commitment to professional, ethical, and social responsibility, and respect for diverse racial, ethnic, religious, social, and gender groups. The faculty member should embrace sustainability as a key aspect of the teaching experience and combine business practices with classroom learning to create a rigorous academic environment. They will be expected to develop diverse assessment methods to accommodate various learning styles and maintain industry connections to introduce new methodologies into the curriculum. The role also requires the integration of interdisciplinary learning into the curriculum and the use of various instructional methods to foster critical thinking, design thinking, and creative problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Master's degree in communications or a related field, or currently enrolled in a master's degree program.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in copywriting across different mediums.
  • Proficiency in various writing styles and formats.

  • Terminal degree in a field related to marketing or communications.
