About the position

The Graphic Designer / Large Format Press Operator position is a full-time role at a busy commercial printing and graphic design company. The role involves a mix of graphic design and large format production work, with a focus on meeting deadlines and ensuring quality control. The company fosters a friendly office environment with long-term employees and is open to training candidates who are eager to learn the production craft.

Responsibilities

• Review preflight digital files received from customers and check for common production issues.
• Generate prepress proofs and guide customers in the creation of completed files compatible with workflow.
• Communicate to the CSR, customer, and/or production personnel of possible issues and recommend fixes.
• Upload approved files to prepress server for production.
• Act as first line of defense in quality print control prior and during print production.
• Occasional design work as requested by clients.
• Print large format jobs that have been approved for production.
• Perform quality spot checks during printing and prep jobs for shipping.
• Occasionally order raw materials for upcoming production work.

Requirements

• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite software including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat Professional.
• Thorough understanding of digital file formats (pdf, upg, tiff, eps, vector files).
• Some color management skills and an understanding of the digital printing process.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior experience operating a large format digital printing press.
• Prior experience with large format digital contour cutter.
• Experience with Fiery imposition software.
