About the position

The Head Cashier at Lowe's is responsible for overseeing the self-checkout area, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring the smooth operation of the cash register functions. This role involves engaging with customers, training and supervising front-end associates, and maintaining a clean and safe store environment. The Head Cashier plays a crucial role in enhancing the customer shopping experience while managing cash handling and compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
• Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
• Provide SMART customer service by understanding customer needs and assisting with merchandise.
• Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
• Supervise, coach, and support the CSA Front End Team.
• Prepare the register area by confirming functionality and stocking supplies at the beginning and end of shifts.
• Inspect returned merchandise for damages and manage customer orders.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain a clean store environment.

Requirements

• Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
• Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology such as smartphones and tablets.
• 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
• 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
• 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
• 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
