About the position

The position involves providing exceptional customer service at Lowe's, particularly in the self-checkout area. The individual will be responsible for monitoring multiple self-checkout registers, assisting customers with their transactions, and ensuring a smooth checkout experience. This includes proactively engaging with customers, recommending products, and addressing any issues that may arise during the checkout process. The role requires the ability to move throughout the checkout area, standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting products to facilitate accurate transactions. Additionally, the employee will express gratitude to customers and encourage them to return to the store. In terms of customer service, the employee is expected to deliver SMART customer service consistently, adhering to Lowe's policies and procedures. This includes seeking out customers to understand their needs, assisting them in locating and selecting merchandise, and providing knowledgeable responses to inquiries. The employee will also coach and train associates in various departmental duties and sales opportunities, ensuring that the team is well-prepared to assist customers effectively. The position also involves responsibilities related to in-stock management, such as preparing the register area at the beginning and end of shifts, inspecting returned merchandise, and managing customer orders. The employee will need to monitor the cash in the drawers, ensure compliance with safety standards, and maintain a clean and organized work environment. This includes detecting signs of theft and communicating any security risks to management. Overall, the role is crucial in maintaining a safe, efficient, and customer-friendly shopping experience at Lowe's.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Respond knowledgeably to customer and employee questions, guiding them through the store as needed.
  • Coach, develop, and train associates in departmental duties and sales opportunities.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
  • Supervise and support the CSA Front End Team, providing coaching and feedback.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and manage customer orders effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
