About the position

The Head Cashier at Lowe's is responsible for overseeing the checkout area, ensuring excellent customer service, and supervising the cashiers. This role involves engaging with customers, processing transactions, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The Head Cashier also plays a key role in training and developing team members while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers.
  • Provide SMART customer service by understanding customer needs and assisting with merchandise.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register.
  • Supervise and coach the CSA Front End Team, providing feedback and training.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas.
  • Conduct daily safety reviews and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Prepare the register area at the beginning and end of shifts, confirming functionality of registers.
  • Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate security risks to management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer and retail technology.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
