About the position

As a Head Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers. This position requires you to monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers, proactively engaging with them to recommend products and services. You will be responsible for greeting customers, assisting them with their transactions, and ensuring that they feel valued and appreciated during their shopping experience. Your ability to move throughout the checkout area, standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, and moving products will be essential in completing transactions accurately and efficiently. In addition to customer service, you will be expected to provide SMART customer service by adhering to Lowe's policies and procedures. This includes seeking out customers to understand their needs, assisting them in locating and selecting merchandise, and responding knowledgeably to their questions. You will also coach and develop other associates, providing feedback and training on various departmental duties and sales opportunities. Your role will involve using a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds, as well as supervising and supporting the CSA Front End Team. You will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the store, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and monitoring merchandise entering and leaving the store. This includes detecting signs of theft and communicating any security risks to management. Your ability to operate store equipment and conduct daily safety reviews will contribute to a safe and secure work environment. Overall, your role as a Head Cashier will be vital in creating a welcoming atmosphere for customers and ensuring the smooth operation of the checkout process.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by adhering to Lowe's policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Use a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds according to company guidelines.
  • Coach, develop, and provide feedback to associates in various departmental duties.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and ensure proper handling of customer orders.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas.
  • Detect common signs of shoplifting and communicate them to management.
  • Conduct daily safety reviews and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Must be able to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
