About the position

As a Head Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring smooth operations at the checkout area. Your primary responsibility will be to assist customers at the self-checkout registers, monitoring multiple stations simultaneously to identify those who may need help. You will proactively engage with customers, recommending products and services while ensuring a positive shopping experience. This position requires you to be mobile, as you will be moving throughout the checkout area, standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting products to facilitate accurate transactions. You will also express gratitude to customers for their business and encourage them to return to Lowe's. In addition to assisting customers, you will be responsible for executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures. This includes seeking out customers to understand their needs, assisting them in locating and selecting merchandise, and providing knowledgeable responses to inquiries. You will also coach and develop associates, providing feedback and training on various departmental duties and sales opportunities. Your role will involve using a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds, ensuring compliance with company guidelines. You will supervise the CSA Front End Team, providing support and coaching as needed, and will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas. You will prepare the register area at the beginning and end of your shift, ensuring all equipment is functional and stocked with necessary supplies. Additionally, you will monitor merchandise entering and leaving the store, detect signs of theft, and communicate any security risks to management. Your commitment to maintaining a safe and secure work environment will be essential, as you will conduct daily safety reviews and adhere to all safety requirements relevant to your duties. Overall, your role as a Head Cashier will be vital in creating a welcoming and efficient shopping experience for Lowe's customers.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service through the execution of Lowe's policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
  • Supervise, coach, and support the CSA Front End Team.
  • Prepare the register area by confirming functionality of registers and stocking supplies.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and process customer orders.
  • Monitor merchandise entering and leaving the store and assist customers with alarms.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
