About the position

The Head Cashier at Lowe's is responsible for overseeing the checkout area, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring efficient transaction processing. This role involves monitoring self-checkout registers, assisting customers, training associates, and maintaining a clean and safe store environment. The Head Cashier plays a crucial role in enhancing customer experiences and supporting the Front End Team.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by understanding customer needs and assisting with merchandise.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register.
  • Coach and train associates in departmental duties and sales opportunities.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and manage register supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and housekeeping standards in the store.
  • Detect signs of theft and communicate security risks to management.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience with retail technology like smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at Lowe's.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
