About the position

As a Head Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers. This position requires you to assist customers at the self-checkout stations, providing guidance and support to ensure they can complete their transactions smoothly. You will be responsible for monitoring multiple self-checkout registers, proactively engaging with customers, and recommending products and services that meet their needs. Your ability to move throughout the checkout area while standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting will be essential in maintaining an efficient checkout process. You will also express gratitude to customers for their business and encourage them to return to Lowe's for future shopping needs. In addition to self-checkout assistance, you will be expected to deliver exceptional customer service by adhering to Lowe's customer service policies and procedures. This includes actively seeking out customers to understand their needs, assisting them in locating and selecting merchandise, and providing knowledgeable responses to their inquiries. You will also be responsible for training and coaching other associates in various departmental duties, ensuring that the team is well-equipped to meet customer expectations. Your role will involve using a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds in accordance with company guidelines. You will supervise the CSA Front End Team, providing support and coaching as needed. Additionally, you will handle various tasks such as removing security tags, verifying product information, and managing phone calls. Maintaining the register area, inspecting returned merchandise, and ensuring compliance with safety and cleanliness standards will also be part of your responsibilities. Overall, your contributions will help create a clean, safe, and organized store environment that enhances the shopping experience for all customers.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Respond knowledgeably to customer and employee questions and guide them through projects when necessary.
  • Coach, develop, and train associates in departmental duties and sales opportunities.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
  • Supervise and support the CSA Front End Team, providing coaching and assistance as needed.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and manage customer orders and receipts.
  • Monitor merchandise entering and leaving the store and assist customers who trigger alarms.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and cleanliness standards in the store and working areas.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
