About the position

The Head Cashier at Lowe's is responsible for overseeing the checkout area, providing exceptional customer service, and supervising the Front End associates. This role involves managing multiple self-checkout registers, assisting customers with transactions, and ensuring a clean and safe store environment. The Head Cashier also plays a key role in training and developing team members while maintaining compliance with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
• Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
• Provide SMART customer service by understanding customer needs and assisting with merchandise.
• Use a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds according to company guidelines.
• Coach, develop, and provide feedback to Front End associates.
• Open additional registers as necessary to ensure adequate coverage during busy times.
• Inspect returned merchandise for damages and ensure proper handling of customer orders.
• Maintain a clean and organized checkout area and store environment.

Requirements

• 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
• Less than 1 year of experience using a computer and retail technology.
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
• 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
• 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
