About the position

As a Head Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring smooth operations at the checkout area. Your primary responsibility will be to assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers, proactively engaging with them to recommend products and services. You will be expected to monitor and identify customers who may need assistance, ensuring that their shopping experience is seamless and enjoyable. This role requires you to move throughout the checkout area, standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, and moving products to facilitate accurate transaction completion. You will also be responsible for thanking customers for their business and inviting them back to shop at Lowe's. In addition to customer service, you will be responsible for executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures. This includes seeking out customers to understand their needs, assisting them in locating and demonstrating products, and providing knowledgeable responses to their inquiries. You will also coach and develop associates in various departmental duties, ensuring that the team is well-trained and equipped to meet customer needs. Your role will involve using a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds, while providing proper monetary change to associates as needed. You will also be tasked with maintaining the in-stock area by preparing the register area at the beginning and end of your shift, inspecting returned merchandise, and managing customer orders. Ensuring a clean and safe store environment is paramount, and you will monitor merchandise entering and leaving the store, detect signs of theft, and adhere to safety standards. This position requires you to operate various store equipment and perform additional duties as assigned, making it a dynamic and engaging role within the Lowe's team.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Respond knowledgeably to customer and employee questions and guide them through projects when necessary.
  • Coach, develop, and provide feedback to associates on departmental duties and sales opportunities.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
  • Provide supervision and support to the CSA Front End Team.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and manage customer orders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and housekeeping standards in the store.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
