About the position

As a Head Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring smooth operations at the checkout area. Your primary responsibility will be to assist customers at the self-checkout registers, monitoring multiple stations simultaneously to identify those who may need help. You will proactively engage with customers, recommending products and services, and ensuring they have a positive shopping experience. This role requires you to be on your feet, moving throughout the checkout area, and performing various tasks such as standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting to facilitate accurate transaction completion. In addition to customer service, you will be responsible for training and coaching other associates in their duties, ensuring they adhere to Lowe's customer service policies and procedures. You will also handle cash register operations, processing sales transactions, returns, and refunds while providing proper monetary change to associates. Your role will involve supervising the Front End Team, ensuring adequate coverage at registers, and assisting in line vesting to improve checkout efficiency. You will also be tasked with maintaining a clean and safe store environment, which includes monitoring cash drawers, detecting signs of theft, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. This position requires you to prepare the register area at the beginning and end of your shift, inspect returned merchandise, and assist with online orders. Overall, your contributions will be vital in creating a welcoming atmosphere for customers and supporting the operational success of the store.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
  • Supervise, coach, and support the CSA Front End Team.
  • Prepare the register area by confirming functionality and stocking supplies at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and process customer orders.
  • Monitor merchandise entering and leaving the store and assist customers who trigger alarms.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain a clean and organized store environment.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
