About the position

As a Full Time Head Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and efficient checkout experience for our customers. This position requires a proactive approach to customer service, where you will monitor multiple self-checkout registers, assist customers with their transactions, and provide recommendations for products and services. You will be responsible for engaging with customers, ensuring they feel valued and appreciated, and maintaining a clean and organized checkout area. Your ability to multitask and communicate effectively will be essential in this fast-paced environment. In addition to customer service, you will also oversee the daily operations of the cash register area. This includes preparing the register area at the beginning and end of your shift, ensuring all equipment is functional, and stocking necessary supplies. You will be responsible for processing sales transactions, returns, and refunds accurately, while also providing proper monetary change to associates. Your leadership skills will be put to use as you coach and develop the CSA Front End Team, ensuring they are equipped to provide excellent service to our customers. Safety and security are paramount in this role. You will monitor cash levels in drawers, assist with loss prevention efforts, and ensure compliance with safety standards. Your attention to detail will help detect signs of theft and other security risks, allowing you to communicate effectively with management and Asset Protection. Overall, your contributions will help maintain a safe, clean, and customer-friendly environment at Lowe's.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register according to company guidelines.
  • Coach, develop, and provide feedback to associates in departmental duties and sales opportunities.
  • Prepare the register area by confirming functionality of registers and stocking supplies at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and process customer orders accurately.
  • Monitor merchandise entering and leaving the store and assist customers who trigger alarms.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and housekeeping standards to maintain a clean and organized store.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
