About the position

As a Head Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers. This position requires you to monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers, proactively engaging with them to recommend products and services. You will be responsible for greeting customers, assisting them with their transactions, and ensuring that they feel appreciated for their business. Your ability to move throughout the checkout area while standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, and moving products is essential for the accurate completion of transactions. You will also be expected to provide SMART customer service by adhering to Lowe's customer service policies and procedures, seeking out customers to understand their needs, and assisting them in locating and selecting merchandise. In addition to customer service, you will be responsible for training and coaching associates in various departmental duties and sales opportunities. You will use a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds, ensuring compliance with company guidelines. Your role will also involve supervising the CSA Front End Team, providing support and coaching as needed. You will prepare the register area at the beginning and end of your shift, ensuring that all equipment is functional and stocked with necessary supplies. Maintaining a clean and safe store environment is also part of your responsibilities, which includes monitoring merchandise entering and leaving the store, detecting signs of theft, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Overall, this position requires a proactive approach to customer service, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment. You will be held accountable for various duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the store and enhancing the customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers.
  • Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
  • Provide SMART customer service by adhering to Lowe's policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Use a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds according to company guidelines.
  • Supervise, coach, and support the CSA Front End Team.
  • Prepare the register area at the beginning and end of shifts by confirming functionality and stocking supplies.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and process customer orders.
  • Monitor merchandise entering and leaving the store and assist customers with alarms.
  • Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate them to management.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store and working areas.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
