About the position

The Head Cashier at Lowe's is responsible for overseeing the self-checkout area, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring a clean and safe store environment. This role involves monitoring multiple registers, assisting customers with transactions, training and coaching associates, and maintaining compliance with safety standards. The Head Cashier plays a crucial role in enhancing the customer shopping experience while managing cash register operations and supporting the front-end team.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers.
• Proactively greet and engage with customers to recommend products and services.
• Provide SMART customer service by understanding customer needs and assisting with merchandise.
• Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register.
• Coach and train associates in departmental duties and sales opportunities.
• Inspect returned merchandise for damages and manage online orders.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain a clean store environment.
• Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate security risks to management.

Requirements

• Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
• Less than 1 year of experience with retail technology like smartphones and tablets.
• 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds.

Nice-to-haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
• 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
• 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at Lowe's.
• 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
