About the position

As a Head Cashier at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers. This position requires a proactive approach to customer service, where you will assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers, ensuring they receive the help they need while also recommending products and services. You will be responsible for engaging with customers, thanking them for their business, and inviting them back to shop at Lowe's. Your ability to monitor and assist customers simultaneously will be key to maintaining a smooth checkout process. In addition to customer service, you will be responsible for executing Lowe's customer service policies and procedures. This includes seeking out customers to understand their needs, assisting them in locating and selecting merchandise, and providing knowledgeable responses to their inquiries. You will also coach and develop associates, providing feedback and training on various departmental duties. Your role will involve using a cash register to process transactions, returns, and refunds, while ensuring proper monetary change is provided to associates. You will also be tasked with maintaining the in-stock area by preparing the register area at the beginning and end of your shift, inspecting returned merchandise, and managing customer orders. Ensuring a clean and safe store environment is essential, as you will monitor cash levels, detect signs of theft, and adhere to safety standards. Your responsibilities will also include operating store equipment and maintaining compliance with housekeeping standards. Overall, this position requires a blend of customer service skills, retail experience, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. You will be held accountable for other duties as assigned, making adaptability and a strong work ethic essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously.
  • Proactively greet, assist, and engage with customers on multiple registers.
  • Provide SMART customer service through the execution of Lowe's policies and procedures.
  • Seek out customers to understand their needs and assist in locating merchandise.
  • Listen to and respond to customer and employee questions promptly.
  • Coach, develop, and train associates in departmental duties.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register.
  • Provide supervision and support to the CSA Front End Team.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and manage customer orders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and housekeeping standards.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
