Bishop Gadsden is known as the Southeast's leading life care retirement community. We are located just 10 minutes from downtown Charleston! Our Culinary Department is currently seeking an exceptional Full Time Service Manager within our Independent Living dining areas. We foster a hospitality culture of excellence in food service, offer competitive pay with generous benefits. The primary purpose of this position is to collaborate with our team of front of house managers to exceed expectation in managing our two dining rooms. This role also executes superior customer service and relations for all residents, guests, and team members who dine at Bishop Gadsden.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the highest level of fine dining service to residents, guests and staff
  • Perform back up management duties for Winningham Court and Market Place Café
  • Improve efficiency and effectiveness of systems used with month end and resident billing and catering services
  • Provide daily instruction and direction as needed to team members
  • Maintain Point of Sale system and train others, as needed
  • Take inventory of alcoholic beverages
  • Ensure cash control procedures for café, as needed
  • Assist the Operations Manager in planning and conducting team member evaluations
  • Assist with special functions and catering events
  • Work with sommelier on wine offerings
  • Manage Winningham Court reservations and seating plans
  • Assume accountability for department and facility policies and procedures and assume accountability for information contained in the current employee handbook
  • Adhere to established facility and departmental safety policies and procedures
  • Perform all responsibilities with adherence to Resident's Rights and HIPAA
  • Maintain professional appearance and conduct exhibiting a respectful and courteous demeanor at all times

Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in hospitality management or related field desirable or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of three years' experience in fine dining events and/or catering
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Professional appearance and attitude for daily interaction with residents, families, co-workers, and public
  • Ability to work in a professional office environment and represent the community both in manner and appearance
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and holidays
  • Ability to read and comprehend numbers and written material both on paper and on computer systems in English
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, comprehend, and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend reach, squat, climb, reach above head, carry, and lift (up to 50 pounds /-)
