About the position

The Human Resource Specialist at The Salvation Army is responsible for supporting various HR functions to ensure the efficient operation of the workplace. This role involves maintaining employment records, assisting with payroll processing, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols, among other HR-related tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, maintain, and update employment records related to hiring, transferring, promoting, terminating, etc.
  • Assist with electronic timekeeping data entry, schedule entry, and payroll processing.
  • Assist with processing pre-employment paperwork such as background checks and Motor Vehicle Reports.
  • Process new hire orientation paperwork.
  • Maintain compliance with safety protocols.
  • Act as a liaison to new and existing employees regarding Salvation Army policies and procedures.
  • Assist in all other areas of the Human Resources Department as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in HR or related field preferred.
  • Experience in human resources or administrative support is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with payroll processing software.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Familiarity with safety compliance protocols.
