About the position

The Full-Time Instructor (Mathematics) at Atlanta Technical College is responsible for providing instruction in General Education Mathematics courses. This role requires the use of effective teaching techniques tailored to adult learning styles, maintaining accurate records, advising students, and ensuring compliance with institutional policies. The instructor will also participate in student recruitment and job placement efforts, and serve on committees as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques.
  • Demonstrates the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping required.
  • Demonstrates the effective use of oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of current procedures in the Mathematics field.
  • Follows approved course syllabus.
  • Completes all reports, records and invoices in a timely manner and maintains an accurate inventory of all assigned properties.
  • Advises and counsels students and maintains appropriate advisement records on each student.
  • Maintains classrooms and labs in accordance with institutional safety guidelines.
  • Attending meetings as required and appropriate.
  • Observes and enforces the institution's policies and regulations.
  • Assists with student recruitment and job placement.
  • Serves on committees, as needed.
  • Maintains qualifications for employment in accordance with institutional and accreditation guidelines.
  • Follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution.
  • Performs additional duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in Mathematics from an accredited college or university; OR Master's degree AND at least eighteen (18) graduate hours in Mathematics from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years of teaching experience in a secondary or postsecondary education program within the past three (3) years.

Nice-to-haves

  • Three (3) or more years of work experience in the field or related field within the past seven (7) years.
  • Two (2) or more years of teaching experience in a secondary or postsecondary education program within the past three (3) years.
  • Experience with Blackboard, BANNER, D2L or other LM systems.
